Bubblegum (2011)

Its a nice refreshing movie of times gone by,based in 1980's when their were no cell phones or internet.Tanvi Azmi is really impressive as the mother of deaf and dumb boy who comes in holidays to live with his family. His younger brother is angst ridden and behaves rashly.Sachin Khedekar again delivers a balanced performance. The colony kids are really cute especially the girls,Ratan and the Bengali funny boy, great casting of children.Conversations between the teenagers is really well done would remind you of your time in school. The younger brother who is the narrator too is quite tiresome and you would soon loose patience with him.His deeds make his life a series of unfortunate events.Else the film is quite likeable.

Cowboys & Aliens (2011)

Saw it yesterday it's a good action movie a mix of western with sci-fi.Daniel Craig is impressive as the cowboy with a powerful Bracelet that he took off from an alien.Their are flying machines that take human prisoner for aliens to do some test on them.Paul Dano is funny as the local tycoon's son played by
Harrison Ford. Harrison Ford is great too as the cocky unscrupulous local rich man. Then their are some Indians who first take them prisoners and then fight alongside them with the aliens.A touching speech by Dano's friend cum bodyguard influences them to join ranks with Ford.

Craig's love interest is a Phoenix like person who rises again from ashes after she dies when a alien plane crashes with her in chains.Ford's speech to the young boy is funny too and inspires him later to kill off the alien that was trying to eat him.Craig's former robber chums to join in.The aliens had set up their spaceship in a gold rich area and are running tests on humans so they can kill them and occupy our planet. The Phoenix woman destroys the spaceship when the aliens are busy fighting a battle outside. Lots to look out for in this movie.

Singham (2011)

Singham the only release this week was houseful today.People found the dialogues really funny and witty, action too got regular applause.Especially young guys do like such action packed movies.Ajay Devgan has well chiseled body here and director takes every opportunity to show it off.Prakash Raj seems quite a cartoonish villian like in those pink panther or other such stuff. His dialogues at places are really funny. This film does seem an extension of Wanted+Dabang.Hope public does not get overdose of such police action flicks.

Here it seems director has especially catered to his Marathi audience, lots of dialogues are in Marathi, does seem anti Karnatka too.Sonali Kulkarni is seen here after a long time.Sachin Khedekar scenes are funny too,and incidents really common place that do happen around you.Ashok Saraf the Hum Paanch guy too is here all funny in a good role.A song comes in between and people go off for a loo break.Maharashtrian Village and the family atmosphere plus the bonding between villagers is created and done well.

Chillar Party (2011)

Chillar Party is quite a entertainer, all kids have done a fabulous job.Irfan Khan as Phatka is enjoyable to watch with his pet dog Beedu.Rohan Grove who is Akram here looks smart and intelligent.Naman Jain as Janghya is quite funny.Shreya Sharma is in later half as the the toothpaste ad girl. She looks pretty.Vishesh Tewari as second hand too is good.Vikas Bahl, Nitesh Tiwari  have directed kids deftly, for they perform quite naturally ,you do not ever feel as if they are acting.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 (2011)

The last movie of the series is quite talky and has less action scenes. You have to wait a long time for any action to happen.Though emotionally its more developed then the last 4 movies of the series. At the end I felt so sad and could barely stop my tears.Special effects are done well.Harry,Hermione and Ron perform really well. Professor Minerva McGonagall (Maggie Smith) is real good as always she makes Severus flee Hogworts.

Professor Severus Snape too turns out good eventually when Harry ventures into his memories.Neville Longbottom is the one who kills of Nagini.Draco Malfoy is saved from near death by Harry himself.
Professor Pomona Sprout too is good. The series ends pretty well, leaving behind loads of memories to cherish for everbody be it actors involved or the audiences world wide.

Black Swan (2010)

It was difficult to watch this movie for I have no liking for those grey movies without even a shred of vegetation just rooms and buildings ,hate this atmosphere of depression and artificiality without a single bit of nature.

But the last 25 minutes are really interesting and really complex and psychological. The music is fabulous and the score written really well increasing the tension, thrill and feeling of dread.Natalie Portman.who is a ballerina in a New York City ballet company starts hallucinating and in the end stabs an imaginary woman while actually stabbing herself realizing it much later in the end and succumbs to  her injury just after her breathtaking performance in "Swan Lake".

"That '70s Show" star Mila Kunis too  excels ,its she whom Natalie hallucinates about while having a Lesbian fling or stabbing the imaginary woman. And yes their is the arousing portrayal of Natalie touching herself or simply masturbating.

Vincent Cassel  too is good. This movie was nominated for 5 Oscars Natalie won Best actress Oscar.

Oscar nominated Barbara Hershey is good too as Natalie's controlling mother.

Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (2011) - Review

Zoya Akhta's second movie is really enthralling. Its one of the best movie to hit silver screen since last 5 or more years. Its beautifully crafted each scene is beautiful and the movie has been shot in exquisite and never before seen virgin locales of Spain.

Kalki Koechlin the "Dev D" girl is great and funny in this movie, she plays fiancee of Abhay Deol.Katrina Kaif  is again different here, still very natural and spontaneous. She is the diving instructor here who takes people for deep sea diving. Her motorcycle driving scene too stands out that ends in a beautiful kiss with Hrithik. Her clothes and dressing has been deftly taken care off which shows in tomatino festival where she wears simple T-shirt and shorts.Somewhere in the movie you may imagine her as a Greek goddess or amazon warrior.

Farhan Akhtar is very natural here plays a general clown of a person always cracking jokes and being subject of them too.Naseeruddin Shah is in a short role here as his biological father. His relation with his other two pals is depicted very realistically.Gets slapped too by Hrithik when he throws away his phone from the car.

Hrithik Roshan is good here different from his previous movies.Abhay Deol is great too.Deepti Naval is in a special appearance as Farhan's mother.

Its a piece of eternity.

In its end it resembles "Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander" ,it ended in bicycle race this ends in the three actors running followed by galloping Bulls.Katrina Kaif's philosophy reminds of Marilyn Monroe's in "Gentleman Prefer Blondes" , when Hrithik says  "I would enjoy life after 40",she asks him how does he know he will live to be 40.Why not instead enjoy every passing moment of life for each moment is precious.

Murder 2

Full of blood and gore and similar to Silence of the Lambs in that aspect.Script and story telling is terrible. Can't comprehend Imraan Hashmi shouting "Human Trafficking".Don't know whats happened to Bhatt Camp ,giving out shit every time. They are the same who gave us Arth,Naam,Aashiqui,Kasoor,Raaj,Phir Teri Kahani Yaad Aayi etc. . In last few years we are getting shit movies to watch, less of good stories, good music, sweetness and romance seems to have gone out of the movies. We get silly comedies, horrible run of the mill scripts, dull and boring stories.Just see the reviews before going to watch any movie.

Here one or two songs are good.Jacqueline is good in her first movie, her face is expressive may be she would have a good career. The young muslim girl in the movie has acted well though why would such a girl die like sitting duck is strange. Why Bhatt's take their nephew Emraan in all of their movies and why is he always the "good Guy" is questionable. Some reviewer said he only has two expressions. And well his umpteenth bed scene here does he keep a count on it.Did he not promise his wife not to kiss anyone in movies.

Its weird that a Bhatt movie would have such a shoddy script. They are going down it seems. And Tanuja Chandra did that in Sangharsh already.

Delhi Belly (2011) Review

Saw it yesterday in PVR Phoenix, starting 20 minutes were strange they showed two small documentaries lots of ads then a rotten trailer of Murder2.And finally lovely trailer of "Zindagi milegi na Dobara".Just hope it would be good. The starting ten minutes of Delhi Belly are full of forced curse words, thought the movie would be rotten but then it became good. Also no break no interval concise movie that does not drag on.Its really funny, some scenes are quite uproarious.Audience was laughing and enjoying every moment.

Imran Khan is good simple here like any normal young man, though his friends are really some characters."Ja Chudail" is a funny song.Dk Bose Bhag comes at several points in the movie. The other girl and her ex husband create some really funny and thrilling scenes.Vijay Raj is cool and composed here as a gangster. The landlord too is good."I hate you(like I Love you) " is also fun to watch and Aamir is unrecognizable. Its a slick fast paced movie must be first of its kind.

Thekedar's House

The house in front of ours was of Thekedar's.It was a big house with a couple of underground rooms too.A Tempo too used to stand outside belonging to a Paying Guest. It was a wonderful place to play "Eye-Spy".We all use to hide in all kinds of places.Below the stairs,in the underground rooms, under the taxi seats,on the roof, around the bushes in adjacent Garden. We easily moved around our hiding places making it impossible for anyone to spot us.
