Jab Se Tumhen Dekha Hai (1963)

This is another delightful movie from Geeta Bali, whose films were always entertaining and never boring.Like her other films here too are three wonderful dance numbers in which Geeta Bali sizzles performed on foot-tapping lively western music. This is her last Hindi movie before her tragic death in 1965 which left her husband Shammi Kapoor heart-broken and shattered.

Besides her the other strong point of this movie which makes it a must watch is all star Qawaali "Tumhe Husn Deke" where for the first time Shammi Kapoor and Shashi Kapoor come together on silver screen joined by comic legend Om Prakash and Bhagwan and Bollywood Beauties Shyama and Kum Kum.This star studded Qawwali is listed as one of the top 10 Qawwalis of all times.

Leading man of the movie Pradeep Kumar is known for doing selective well made films. This too is directed well by Kedar Kapoor and has many twists and turns and lovely songs to make it absolutely entertaining and engrossing for the movie going audience. In her last movie in many scenes Geeta Bali looks like Barbara Streisand ,the "Funny Girl (1968) " star.

Agha plays Pradeep Kumar's buddy and is quite good.“Yeh Din Din Hai Khushi” is the first song of the movie where Geeta Bali and Shammi Kapoor's little son Aditya Raj Kapoor makes a special appearance.

Its a well scripted film.Geeta Bali meets Pradeep Kumar and slowly they fall in love.Pradeep Kumar's friend from England Sehgal takes a fancy to Geeta and asks her father for marriage.Geeta refuse and his father say he won't marry his daughter against her wish.Sehgal is a Government officer overlooking work done on contract by Geeta's father set out to destroy him financially by misusing his power.Geeta's father eventually suffers a heart-attack and is hospitalized.Geeta can't see her father ruined she agrees to marry Sehgal. But Sehgal has a girl-friend Kitty played by Vijaylaxmi who obviously is not happy with all this.Sehgal murders Kitty and frames Pradeep Kumar. In the action packed climax and heart-stopping chase sequence Agha gets Kitty's Diary from her maid-servant played by TunTun.And we have a happy ending.

Its a lesser known Black and white Gem from the classic era of Bollywood, quite a wonderful watch.

Phata Poster Nikla Hero (2013)

Four years after giving highly successful entertainer "Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani" Raj Kumar Santoshi is back with screw-ball action comedy with not a single dull moment and a film you can enjoy with your family.I saw it today at PVR and children really enjoyed it and kept talking about the characters while walking back to Parking.Adults too enjoyed it equally and its comedy is somewhat like Santoshi's cult classic "Andaz Apna Apna".People were pleasantly surprised as Salman Khan playing himself is in a guest appearance.

Though in the climax its strange that it preaches, kids should not follow their dreams but do as their parents say.Which is out of place in today's times when parents mostly encourage their children to do what they like profession wise. For the Shahid's character wants to be a Hero but his mother emotionally blackmails him to become a Police officer.

All the songs are good and shot beautifully like glorious music videos and the background score is great too.Padmini Kolhapure seems well preserved and seems like Shahid's sister rather than mother.Shahid Kapoor is great in this movie and shines throughout .Action scenes are really fast paced.Ileana too is good and Saurabh Shukla is really funny.

Its a great movie to watch this weekend.

Dear Boys, its your mother who brings you into this world. She feeds you looks after you and saves you from harm. She is your first Teacher and Friend. Most of you boys are scared of you father and can't express frankly your thoughts unto him but can easily unburden yourself to your mom.Its she who coaxes your father to buy this and that for you, urges him to do various things for you.

But as you young Boys grow into towering adults you start talking to your mother many times in scolding tones. For as she grows older she is not that bright in the mind, she may make mistakes here and there and many times you don't like her being too generous or of good heart.Lots of time you may yourself know that you have been very rude to your mother.Give her,her own space let her be as she wants to be.Always talk gently and respectfully to your mother, she is your best friend but that does not gives you right to be rude to her.And correct yourself before she is gone else you are just left with regrets.

Mad About Music (1938)

Taking a break from watching latest movies in Multiplex, which may turn out boring and you may doze off in between,I decided to watch some classics I had for a long time."Mad about Music" turned out to be refreshing with Deanna Durbin and her classmates singing "I love To Whistle" just after the rolling titles.Film is really pleasant and Deanna looks utmost beautiful and effortless in her singing.Deanna Durbin left us on 20 th April 2013.

Deanna who plays Gloria Harkinson makes up wild stories about her non-existent father and later on in the movie she speaks umpteenth lies to hide this one lie. Her mother played by Gail Patrick
is glamorous actress in Hollywood who has to hide that she has a fourteen year old daughter studying in a boarding school in Switzerland.Since Deanna had told this fib that her Father is a explorer cum hunter she asks her mother to ship various trophies of a hunt like ivory tusk.I was so surprised by such amount of lies told by everybody,I don't think in any other movie I have seen people lie so much.

A boy named Tommy played by Jackie Moran {Tom Sawyer (1938), Since You Went Away (1944)} takes a liking to Deanna and ask her for a date at a coffee shop. She lies to the head-mistress that her father is coming to meet her and to let her go.Now her class-mates follow her to the coffee shop where the boy gives her a bouquet. Her friend Olga { Marcia Mae Jones} comes and tell Deanna that her classmates have followed her to see her father on insistence of Felice {Helen Parrish}Felice is convinced that its all a lie a cock and bull story.

From there she goes to railway station to meet her father who is non-existent and not coming. When the train arrives she hand the bouquet that her boy-friend gave to the person who seems most like her hunter father,Richard Todd played by Herbert Marshall who actually is a Music Composer ,saying its a Swiss custom to welcome guests. And later on accompanies this man and his secretary to his hotel just to convince her friends.
