Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (2014) - Review

Touted as a tribute to Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge,Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania presents Varun Dhawan in a completely different role from his previous films.Here he is a sweet simpleton guy,mischievous,friendly,funny and innocent youngster.His two friends Gaurav Pandey and Sahil Vaid have really done well and complement him in every scene.Alia is here in a character similar to she portrayed in Highway and does pretty well.And after a long time we see Ashutosh Rana in a prominent role.

Below are three of my favorite songs from this film.

1)Samjhawan: A recreated song for Varun Dhawan & Alia Bhatt starrer HSKD, This one is a Rahat FAK's superhit song Main Tenu Samjhawa Ki from Punjabi film Virsa, The song is beautifully sung by Arijit Singh & Shreya Ghoshal.

2)Lucky Tu Lucky Me : The song is composed by Sachin-Jigar and sung by Varun Dhawan, Benny Dayal & Anushka Manchanda.

3)Emotional Fool: The song is sung by Toshi Sabri & composed by Sharib-Toshi.

Shashank Khaitan is the Director and writer of this film and he has done pretty good.For all those who felt that Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania is Shashank Khaitan's debut film, this news will be a bit of a shocker as his debut film was Sherwani Kahaan Hai, a film which never saw the light of the day.

When Bollywood Hungama spoke to this soft-spoken director, he was sweet enough to accept this. He said, "Yes, Sherwani Kahaan Hai was indeed my debut film, which I made it with a group of my friends from Subhash Ghai's Whistling Woods. The film mostly starred newcomers like Pavail Gulati, Aahana Kumra (who are now acting in Big B's Yudh) and others. There were also cameos by Naseeruddin Shah and Ratna Pathak Shah. The film was made on a small budget. We tried our level best to release the film, but couldn't manage to do so."

When asked about a certain 'Aki' whose name was featured in the credits of Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania as 'In loving memory of my brother Aki', Shashank said, "Aki aka Akshat Trivedi, was a very close friend of mine, who also featured in Sherwani Kahaan Hai. Sadly, he passed away few years back."

Mainly the filming was taken place in Mumbai and second schedule completed on 12 March in Punjab.Dhawan hints about his character, "Humpty is a character; he's not the hero. He is someone who says inappropriate things at the wrong time." The filming was completed in Ambala, Chandigarh, Khan Market and Delhi University,at a budget of 17.5 crore (US$2.9 million).It was reported on the makers on the movie shot a song named Saturday Saturday in Mumbai Film City recreating famous Colosseum for a futuristic avatar song. Song is choreographed by Ahmed Khan

Bedu pako bara masa - Folk song of Kumaon

In my friend Ravinder Singh Karkee's Baraat his father Lal Singh Karkee's friend Chandan Singh Bisht sang this song.Its a favorite folk song of Kumaon and between the din of  popular bollywood marriage songs it stood out.

In this song composer expresses the emotions of a lady giving reasons her beloved to visit her mother s place. Bedu, the passion fruit, is one of the very abundant fruit available throughout four seasons, however the Kafal (wild red color berry) is available only in the month of Chaitra. In general, passion fruit has only a limited value be it eating or other usages among hilly people, hence not considered as a fruit at all. However Kafal not only tastes good but also it happens to ripen around the month when natural beauty touches its extreme. This entire natural beauty instigates childhood memories and fun days within her heart and she expresses her interest of going to her mother s place. Also to add to the meaning composer included places like Almora and Nainital in the songs and the famous things therein. In one of the lines composer provides us with the powerful bond of love and explains that if beloved is hurt it is the self who realizes and feels the pain more than anyone else around.

Lekar Hum Deewana Dil (2014) - Review

 Movie is made worth watching by its wonderful music,4 of the songs I like most are below.

1)Bas Itna Hi Maaloom - sung by Hriday Gattani & Jonita Gandhi, compsoed by AR Rahman while Maloom lyrics are penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya.

2)Mawali Qawwali - The song is sung by Ishq Shava singer Raghav Mathur & Tanvi Shah and composed by AR Rahman while lyrics are penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya.

3)Khaleefa Khalifa - The song is sung & compsoed by AR Rahman while its lyrics are penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya.

4) Tu Shining - sung by Hriday Gattani, composed by AR Rahman while lyrics its lyrics are penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya.Its the film's opening song zingy!

Armaan Jain is great in his debut film,to me he seems like a bit of Rajeev Kapoor mixed with a lot of Jack Lemmon.Deeksha Seth seems so much like Genelia D'Souza and this film has a lot in common with Socha Na Tha  which had a better script than this .Rohini Hattangadi is seen in a main stream Bollywood movie after a long time since 2008 Karzzzz.

The most horrible Father son scene I have seen ever in a Hindi film is in this movie,Father is going down the lift to his office,Armaan gets in asks him for something,Father starts bursts like a volcano shouting at him almost beating him reminding him of his "Aukaat" and how he lives off his money.

  

Film's director is Imtiaz Ali's brother Arif Ali and has deftly done his job.Sudeep Sahir plays elder brother to Armaan,looks cute. Nikita Dutta is paired opposite Sudeep Sahir in the film.The film was shot in Mumbai,Chattisgarh (wherein one of the longest scenes was shot), Ooty and Chennai.

Car rams into Phoenix Mall Parking Booth - Lucknow

As I exited Phoenix Mall after watching unimpressive Bobby Jasoos,I saw a damaged Parking Booth you know where you return token and pay parking fees for cars.A car had rammed into it,car's front portion was all broken up.Eyewitnesses told me Parking attendant was lucky enough to save his life and escape unhurt.They further said the driver was completely drunk could not control his car and rammed into the Parking Booth.

Armaan Jain & Neetu Singh - Le Kar Hum Deewana Dil Connection

Neetu Singh had a successful stint as Baby Sonia in films like Do Kaliyaan (1968) .In 1973 her first adult role came with Yaadon Ki Baraat (1973) where she sizzled silver screen with "Le Kar Hum Deewana Dil" song with Tariq, cousin brother of actors Aamir Khan and Faisal Khan..This was two years before Khel Khel Mein (1975) with Rishi Kapoor.Now her nephew Armaan Jain stars in a movie of the same name,i.e. Le Kar Hum Deewana Dil.
