Kaanchi - The Unbreakable (2014) - Review

Its a nice inspiring movie aptly released in midst of elections for here we have a young girl exposing corrupt politicians and unscrupulous tycoons. This movie also showcases scenic beauty of Uttaranchal and was shot around hills of Nainital district. And a month afterwards we had devastating floods in Kedarnath last June.
Kartik Aryan (Kartik Tiwari) by his cool looks and natural acting is the best thing about this film.Subhash Ghai introduces Indrani Chakraborty as ‘Mishti’ in ‘Kaanchi’ and she is just fabulous here.Great chemistry between Kartik and Mishti reflects on-screen in their interactions and particularly in their one kissing scene.

Mita Vasisht impresses in a small but pivotal role.Rishabh Sinha is in a negative role who bumps of Kartik over the cliff for he is madly obsessed with Mishti.Lady who plays Mishti's mom sings a lullaby in the local language and has many memorable scenes in the movie especially the one where she runs after Mishti who asks her to go back while hitching a ride on a bus.Her mom runs after her until she falls down exhausted. The guy that plays Police Inspector who hails from her village does a commendable job too.Kaanchi has flawless casting which most of the movies lack.

Rishi Kapoor is doing prolific work in his second innings and here too he has done a great job.First as a person who motivates Rishabh towards evil and then as a guy head over heels in love with Mishti and dances in "Thumka" sung by Sonu Nigam surrounded by ravishing foreign beauties.
"Hindustan Kahan Hai" is a nice inspirational song from this movie.Poet Mohammed Iqbal wrote "Saare Jahaan Se Achchha Hindostan Hamaara" in pre-independence India. Now when our country is afflicted by corruption this song inspires youth to make it great and beautiful restoring to it,its lost glory.
