Rita Bahuguna Joshi on giving Monetary compensation to Rape Victims - 2009 Speech

{At a meeting in Moradabad, UP Congress chief Rita Bahuguna Joshi slammed CM's decision to send the DGP to visit Dalits who were victims of crime, including rape. In that context, she is alleged to have made a 'derogatory statement' against Mayawati.

The speech can loosely be traslated in English as follows:
'Is 75,000 rupees enough for the girls who have been raped and murdered in UP. Mayawati spent 5 lakh rupees on helicopter rides to see these girls. First she went to Meerut then to Ghaziabad and finally she gave Rs 75,000 to a girl who was murdered. These girls should tell Mayawati that may be she should be raped then they will give her Rupees 10 million as compensation."}

Politics aside is it enough to give Monetary compensation to Rape victims,or is it slap on their face to give price of their Dignity.Our Leaders try to shackle our women by citing Cultural reasons,our men have been fooling women by talking of our Sociocultural heritage.

One way they can deter these Lusty individuals is by Publicly flogging men found eve-teasing or stalking women or getting too physical with them.This would certainly instill shame in them not to commit such acts again.
