A campaign to fight loneliness Oprah Winfrey's "Just Say Hello" campaign urges people to say Hello to strangers. And in this festival of Holi I had people whom I didn't knew wishing me Happy Holi.A child with a "Pichkari" in hand ran out and said "Happy Holi Uncle",a guy riding on a scooter said "Happy Holi Bhai-saahab".
In the morning most streets were deserted and only merry children could be see playing with colors and thoroughly enjoying themselves.
Later on in the day when people had one too many you could see guys on bikes in tipsy state just stopping to collect themselves.I saw a guy butts half exposed lying in front of a closed shop in an inebriated state looking quite confused.A man who couldn't control his motorcycle collided with my bicycle and said sorry with a goofy lost grin.
We had two guys on a motorbike with a drum between them going around singing Holi songs.Mostly young boys were on streets hugging each other putting 'abir' 'gulal' colors on each other, laughing and chatting and wishing each other happy Holi.A guy sitting behind two of his friends on a Bike bursting joyfully into singing "Jaate Ho Jaane Jaana" from Amitabh's Parvarish."Sunny Sunny" from Yaariyaan was a favorite song this Holi, young boys and kids dancing gleefully to the tune while spraying colors on each other.Vendors continued to sell colors throughout the day.
At 12:00 Noon Holi ends but mirth and madness continued.I saw a group of Boys all drenched in colors with faces smeared in multiple colors, who have all seem to have lost their shirts or they got too wet and teared of.One guy sitting behind his friend on a motorcycle was wearing a half torn shirt which had only sleeves remaining and his pants were all reduced to the the size of an underwear.Three guys on a bike stopped to take a breath they guy driving was too tipsy to drive and the guy in the middle was dozing off.
