Queen (2014) - Review - Kangna's Roman Holiday

Not that its shot in Rome but is as uplifting in spirit as Audrey Hepburn's Roman Holiday. And two of her leaving her fiance and setting her self free scenes are so similar to Gregory Peck walking off after leaving the princess with not a regret but a beautiful smile. This is lovely musical about a girl discovering her self and starting life afresh after she goes into depression because her fiance left her at the altar. Each and every song by composer Amit Trivedi is great and the Asha Bhosle Bindu dance number "Hungama ho gaya" from Anhonee (1973) with music from Laxmikant Pyarelal is an added bonus and exhilarating.Vikas Bahl's Flawless direction and interesting story-line makes it a entertaining watch.

In Amsterdam she has to live in Hostel with these three boys and develops a strong platonic relationship with them.Taka ()the Japanese guy is brought on vacation by his two friends after his parents die in Tsunami in Japan. He is the most wonderful character in any movie I have seen in recent times. He is very expressive yet simple and has many light-hearted and emotional scenes in this film,in some funny scenes he reminded me of Tushar Kapoor in Golmaal series of movie. You know like a close person treating you like crap and a complete stranger giving you warmth and affection you need,to get out of that dark place you are in.

Rajkummar Rao plays Kangna's fiance and delivers a polished performance."Director Vikas Bahl covered 145 locations in 40 days while shooting for Queen in Europe. When director Vikas Bahl took off to cities like Paris and Amsterdam in Europe to shoot for his film Queen with Kangana Ranaut, he took with him a crew of only 25 people. The director said that they didn’t have the budget to shoot elaborate sequences or stay put at one location for long. “We were just 25 people from India for the shoot. We would book a place for a couple of hours, then rush to another location. We would eat at the nearest hotel where we were shooting, and at times Kangana would change her clothes in public toilets! We shot in about 145 locations in 40 days,” said Bahl." - from Indian Express
