In March 2005 when board exams were going on this film was released the debut movie of Abhay Deol.Saw it in Pratibha Hall.A modest no. of crowd was their.Really loved it then though the post interval portion was quite slow but climax was again well done.
I have seen so many movies since then,but don't think any of them touch its spontaneity and naturalness or its excellent dialogues.Its one of the best written movie ever.Also the way dubbing is done makes it all the more effective.When you see the movie you just remember your college days and think that's how folks behaved then.It really evoked nostalgia then and it has increased over the years.Its a modern day classic.
Its also the debut movie of Imtiaz Ali the famed director of "Jab We Met".Music which is the soul of a movie is fabulous especially "Abhi Abhi mere Dil mein Khayal aya hai" which is pictured really well and it is started by Abhay's friend in the movie he is good too.The movie ends with another lovely joyful song "O yaara rab ruth jaane de".Their's a cute proposing song that also seem very natural on the spot cocoction "Main Seedhe saade dhang se" where Abhay is proposing to his girl friend.
Abhay Deol in his first movie is very natural,his voice and acting is endearing and his mannerism is very fresh and unique.Ayesha Takia is wonderful not one false note in her performance it seemed she really enjoyed being a part of this movie.It was after a long time Ayesha Jhulka was seen in a movie as Abhay Deol's "Bhabhi".She looks beautiful here and plays a pivotal role in the movie.Rati Agnihotri and Suresh Oberoi support well.
Costumes are designed by Simple Kapadia sister of Dimple Kapadia,Simple tragically died in 2009 she was just 51.Shirish Kunder husband to Farah Khan and director of "Jaaneman" has co-edited the movie with Imtiaz.
