hema malini has a pivotal role in tere mere sapne, she plays herself a movie actress in distress, she fells in love with her doctor only to learn he is already married.memorable scene is " Hema Malini's unforgettable montage in Tere Mere Sapne of weeping into a half-open refrigerator after she comes to know the man she loves is married"The story of Tere Mere Sapne as described in detail is amazing. The movie is based on AJ Cronin’s classic novel ’The Citadel’ which was made as a movie in hollywood in 1938.Vijay Anand who was written the screenplay of the movie deserves a pat on the back as he had adapted the novel so amazingly that it fits the Indian scenario very aptly. The setting of village, the city atmosphere, the characters and their reactions are so well scripted that you cant help but call Vijay a genius even though we know that he adapted a novel. The dailogues suite the condition very well. The movie is so well directed that it is my personal favourite Vijay Anand directed film

tere mere sapne is the only movie to be based on a doctor's struggle through life and compromise he makes. the movie is touching, its well crafted ,i have watched it several times.three songs are quite good.well knitted story, great dialogues, apt direction make it a great classic.
mumtaz is at her best in tere mere sapne as doctor's wife, she is down to earth and her portrayal is quite sensitive.
